This is not a commonly offered treatment option. However, it looks better than the example below using tooth coloured filling material and saves having gum surgery.

What is not common is to improve the underlying problem, which is the surface roughness. The enamel is polished to a glassy finish to reduce future staining using special diamond impregnated rubber polishers.

This costs about a third of the cost of replacing the crowns. It is not commonly known that this can be done.
